According to www.attendanceworks.org, studies show that missing school correlates with achievement gaps and high school dropout rates across the country; that is why the Fulton City School District celebrates school attendance every September in honor of Attendance Awareness Month.

It is estimated that every 13 seconds, an older adult is seen in an emergency department for a fall-related injury. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries in adults 65 years of age and older. However, falling is not a not an inevitable part of aging, and many falls can be prevented.

The Oswego County Health Department is holding influenza immunization clinics weekdays for people age 19 and older from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.

Showcasing more than 50 original pieces of art, the annual Arise UNIQUE Art exhibit arrived at CNY Arts Center 11 River Glen Drive location in Fulton Wednesday and remain open to the public through October 12. UNIQUE is an art and literary magazine published by ARISE that celebrates the creative voices of Central New York artists with disabilities.

Several students completed their graduate studies at SUNY Oswego and were recognized in August with master’s degrees or graduate certificates.

On September 15, the United States Department of Health and Human Services announced Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc., as a recipient of Affordable Care Act Health Infrastructure Investment Program funding to increase access to behavioral health services. NOCHSI will receive $1 million.
