Hannibal Students Shine At Summer Institute
Eight incoming freshmen participated in the Summer Institute, an intensive two-week program that focused on building skills in the four primary subject areas: math, science, English and social studies.
Reality Check To Hold Teen Leadership Training
Reality Check and Youth 4 Youth will hold a teen Leadership Training August 25, from 10 a.m. – 3: 30 p.m. at the Fulton Community room. Teens 13-18 years old, living in Cayuga, Onondaga and Oswego counties who are interested in learning critical leadership skills such as public speaking and managing a group, are encouraged to attend. The training starts at 10 a.m., is free and both snacks and lunch will be provided.
Area students earn Presidential Scholarships at SUNY Oswego
The scholarships are $18,800 over four years for students residing on campus. Off-campus Presidential Scholarships are $2,350 a year. For non-New York state students, the total award can increase to as much as $50,800 in combination with a Destination Oswego scholarship.
History Lecture Series: Theodore Irwin – Oswego Tycoon and American Collector
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum presents a lecture by Oswego County Historian, Justin White, on August 29 at 1:30 p.m. He will be the third speaker in the museum’s 2015 History Lecture Series. White will be speaking on Theodore Irwin, a millionaire industrialist and leading businessman in 19th century Oswego whose personal fortune allowed him to amass a world class private library of rare books.
Oswego County Agency Hosts Healthcare Career Event Aug. 27
Oswego County Workforce New York and the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation, in cooperation with several area healthcare providers, including Oswego Health, The Manor at Seneca Hill, Morningstar Residential Care Center and several home health care agencies have joined together to offer an opportunity for the general public to learn more about careers in healthcare and possibly land a job.
Treadwell to Receive NEDA Lifetime Achievement Award

During the annual conference awards dinner on September 14, NEDA will present L. Michael Treadwell, executive director of Operation Oswego County, with the NEDA Lifetime Achievement Award.
