The seniors of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District were awarded more than $700,000 in scholarships at their annual senior awards banquet. One new scholarship presented this year was from the district’s new superintendent, Anita Murphy.

Staff at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego recently pitched-in to support the Oswego Animal Shelter. By donating an item to the Animal Shelter to use in the care of dog or cats, employees were able to “dress casually” for the day.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s Learn to Sail Summer program offers a variety of youth and adult sailing classes to help community members experience the enjoyment of our amazing waterfront. The classes will run through July and early August and cover a variety of skill levels. They are instructed by a U.S. Sailing Association certified instructor.

Eleven out of the fourteen APW Varsity teams were scholar athlete teams this spring. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association recognizes teams that excel in the classroom at the end of each season.

Oswego Middle School Principal Mary Beth Fierro and other staff members presented numerous recognitions and awards to students for their academic success, attendance standards, character, and civic mindedness.

The Mexico Public Library will sponsor the 25th Annual 5K Cider Run and Walk and a fun run on September 19 at Mexico High School. All events start on the high school athletic fields. The fun run begins at 8:30 a.m. on the high school track and the 5K Cider Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. on Liberty Street.

The following students earned honor roll distinction at Fulton Junior High School for the fourth quarter.

APW Valedictorian Kylie Bartlett is the daughter of Francis and Andrea Bartlett. APW Salutatorian Kathleen Palmer is the daughter of Mark and Karla Palmer.
