Bring your family and friends for a fun day all about birds and nature: Come to Onondaga Audubon’s fourth annual Bird Festival May 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Derby Hill Bird Observatory. Bird watching, nature walks, and kids’ activities are scheduled throughout the day.
On Sunday April 19, a freewill pancake breakfast will be held at Lake City Lodge 127 in Oswego. The hours will be from 8 a.m. until noon.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the first lecture of the 2015 season on April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum located at 135 E. Third St. The event is free and open to the public. Guest lecturer Rick Sivers will present a program entitled, “With Pen and Sword.”
Members of the Firebird Concert Chorus performed nearly a dozen songs, much to the pleasure of the audience full of proud family members and friends. In addition to the concert chorus, the chamber singers also belted out seven songs ranging from “Take Me to the Water” to “Kiss Me Softy.”
The SUNY Oswego music department will host a variety of semester-ending concerts for college ensembles — two of which include members from the greater Oswego community — on several nights starting April 25. All of the concerts are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. in Sheldon Hall ballroom, and are free and open to the public.
Members of Hannibal High School’s drama club, Purple Gallery, have been working tenaciously preparing their 2015 production. Under the direction of advisor, Shirley Terrinoni, the play will be performed on April 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. in the Hannibal High School auditorium.
Round up your posse and head for the 2015 OCO Rodeo Bowl. The action takes place Saturday, April 18, from high noon until pretty near sunset (6 p.m.) at Lakeview Lanes. The Pulaski Historical Society will play the “Pulaski Trivia” game at its program on April 23 at 7 p.m, in the Carriage House. The meeting is free and open to the public. Ellie Spicer and Norma Gregory will provide refreshments.
SUNY Oswego’s theater department will open Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia” on April 24 offering audiences two separate casts and their interpretation of a play with highlights of humor, moments of melancholy and thought-provoking passages. “Arcadia,” often called the masterpiece of the Czech-born British playwright, will run at 7:30 p.m. April 24 and 25 and the following Saturday, May 2, closing with a matinee at 2 p.m. May 3.
Twenty high school automotive students from across New York State will travel to Morrisville State College May 7–8 to participate in the State Finals of the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition.
