Students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School recently participated in the American Jump Rope for Hearts campaign and help raise significant proceeds for the cause. For one school week, students took part in a wide variety of jumping exercises during their physical education class.

The Zonta Club of Oswego celebrated International Women’s Day with presentations, performances and table displays that emphasized this year’s theme “Equality for Women is Progress for All.”
The Spring Is (sort of) Here Pie Sale will be held Friday (April 3), from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday (April 4), from 11 a.m. until gone at the Fulton Tractor Supply Store, 806 W. Broadway. It is a benefit for the “cutie pies” of the Oswego County Humane Society.
Open to community members of all ages, Laps for Limbs is a special event to raise awareness and funds for Move Along, Inc., an organization that assists individuals of all ages with physical disabilities with the opportunity to be engaged with recreational activities, gain life skills and adapt to their conditions.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host its 28th annual “Not So Silent Auction” fund-raiser on April 10 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St. Admission is $20 and includes a light food buffet and cash bar. Tickets will be available at the door.
Members from the Delta Kappa Kappa fraternity, in partnership with SUNY Oswego’s men’s ice hockey team, invite community members of all ages to join them for the second annual For the Kids event, a fundraiser to benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County. Hosted by Cheap Seats Sports Bar, 6 Hillside Ave., ‘For the Kids’ will be held April 11 beginning at 3 p.m.
Assemblyman Will Barclay and Sen. Patty Ritchie recently attended Maple Weekend at Yardley Maple Farms located on County Route 64 in Mexico. Maple Weekend was held the last two weekends in March.
Supporters of the United Way of Greater Oswego County gathered at Holy Trinity Church to enjoy a delicious meal of soup, salad, rolls and dessert at United Way’s Stone Soup Too Luncheon. The annual event serves as a fundraiser for food pantries in Oswego County. According to United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath, the luncheon was a great success.
