Timothy Bush, district governor for Lions International District 20-Y-1, was the featured speaker at the Fulton Lions Club’s Jan. 15 meeting. Bush congratulated Fulton Lions Len Kellogg and Dr. Brett Tallents for reaching milestones of 30 and 20 years of membership, respectively. He also shared district initiatives for growing membership by “strengthening the pride.”

The students, staff and Home and School Association of Kingsford Park Elementary School pulled together again this year, with the gifts of several generous donors, to provide a happy holiday for more than 40 families in need, as part of the Annual Kingsford Park Holiday Giving Project.

Two new exhibitions, one using multiple artistic media to explore the subject of gender identity, the other a provocative collection of photography from Light Work, will run Jan. 31 to Feb. 15 at SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery at Penfield Library.

Gabrielle Griffin of Sterling, a freshman majoring in science studies at Clarkson University, received the Elwyn J. Rodee Endowed Scholarship and the Thomas Edward Simpkins ’30 Endowed Scholarship during the 2014-2015 academic year.
Local author, baker and painter Diane Sokolowski was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. Sokolowski spoke about her newly penned book, “So, I Wanted to Run a Bed and Breakfast.”
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be full-time and have achieved a minimum 3.6 semester and cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The auditorium at Lura M. Sharp Elementary School recently transformed into a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) village as fourth graders got a firsthand glimpse into the lives of Native Americans. For the students, who had just completed a unit on Native American studies, the Jan. 15 performance of “There Once was a Longhouse” reinforced the lessons they had learned in the classroom.
