The Memorial Day Salute is an event that was created and is now carried on by representatives of the four Fulton service clubs: Rotary, Sunrise Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions. The service clubs are assisted by the Fulton Veterans’ Council.
The community is invited to watch family friendly (PG) movie set in France and featuring the struggle of immigrants from India in the context of French culture and cuisine. This movie will be shown at First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St. on March 15, in the Fellowship Hall starting at 2 p.m.
The second annual Fairley Healthy Family Night has been set for March 23 from 7-9 p.m. at the Fairley Elementary School gymnasium where good nutrition practices, exercise habits and positive lifestyle choices will be in the spotlight. The entire school community is invited to attend.
The CNY ARTS Center artists’ meet-up group is kicking off its spring season with a 6×6 art party on March 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the ARTs in the HeART Studio, 47 S. First St. Attendees will create art in various media in a 6×6 format to support the Rochester Contemporary Art Center.
Thirty-two Leighton Elementary School students participated in the Battle of the Books program recently, coordinated by the school’s librarian Deb McHugh. Battle of the Books is a reading motivation and comprehension competition that encourages students to read more and to explore different genres. Using a modified version of Alaska’s Battle of the Books Program, this year a total of 10 books were chosen for students ranging from a graphic novel, to non-fiction, to fantasy.
