Students from both the Alfred campus and the School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville are selected for the Dean’s List if they maintain a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0.

Students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School recently received a lesson in how to stay active outdoors during the cold winter months. As part of a physical education unit, students in Melissa Bailer’s third grade class learned how to utilize snowshoes, a specific kind of footwear designed for walking over snow without sinking.

Students in the Heavy Equipment Repair and Operation program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation now have the luxury of operating a brand new piece of excavating equipment.

As the campus renovation project draws to a close, students and staff at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation are reaping the rewards of new student program work spaces. The project got off the ground in 2011, after all nine component districts voted in approval of the renovations, which included improved classrooms and equipment upgrades.

YAC used to meet at the CiTi campus before CiTi’s renovation project, which was approved in 2011 by all nine component school districts. Once construction commenced, classroom space became limited and the group moved their meetings to the Mexico United Methodist Church.

Last June the Hannibal Central School Districted unveiled the inaugural Distinguished Hannibal Warrior induction class, and now nominations are being sought for this year’s honorees. The effort is designed to recognize notable Hannibal alumni, faculty or local citizens who have contributed to the community and/or school district, achieved distinction for their work and set the standards for others to emulate.

Embracing its innovative nature, the Stepping Stones Day Program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation is adding cutting-edge neurological therapies to its services. In partnership with Hillside Children’s Center, CiTi has purchased state-of-the-art software and equipment to begin offering neurofeedback therapy to students with conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Singer / songwriter John McConnell will add his soulful voice and rhythmic guitar style to the Child Advocacy Center’s fourth annual Chicken Wing Fest. The Oswego based performer, well known for his unique solo acoustic show, will provide the entertainment for the fest with a live show beginning at 6 p.m.

The CTE culinary students coordinated a restaurant experience for CiTi staff recently. Employees were able to choose from a variety of delicious menu items for their lunch. With carryout bags, a ticket order wheel and a cashier, the experience was just like that of a real restaurant.
