Students at Lanigan Elementary School wrapped up the month of January with an assembly that lauded effort, attendance and tolerance. The school-wide ceremony, held Jan. 29, included a demonstration by the G. The graduation of four small businesses made 2014 a benchmark year for incubator success at the Oswego County Business Expansion Center. Located in the city of Oswego, the BEC managed by Operation Oswego County, provides incubation space and technical assistance to non-retail, industrial, technology and service businesses. The purpose of the BEC is to provide commercial space with low rent and flexible terms to eligible start up and evolving businesses.
Heather Shambo, owner of Ontario Soap Company, was a recent guest of past president Sue Witmer at an Oswego Rotary meeting. Shambo spoke about the company she founded in 2014. She has been making handcrafted soap and cleaning products for family and friends for three years.
CNY Arts Center announces a new theatre series set to debut Valentine’s Day, February 14 with “Love Letters,” starring Mark Cole and Banna Rubinow in co-production with Theatre Du Jour. The combination of dessert and a show will return several times throughout the year with smaller shows and a buffet of luscious desserts.
Two faculty members from SUNY Oswego’s School of Education were the only attendees from the United States at Brazil’s second National Conference on Education, held recently in that nation’s capital, Brasilia. Dr. Alfred Frederick, distinguished service professor in curriculum and instruction, and Dr. Tania Ramalho, professor of curriculum and instruction, were observers at the vast gathering that involved thousands of delegates from throughout Brazil.
