The Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club donated 137 dictionaries to each third grade student at Michael A Maroun Elementary. Every year, each third grade classroom selects two representatives to meet with Rotary Club representatives to accept the dictionaries.
On November 8, the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) hosted the annual “Build ’Em and Bust ’Em” Bridge Building Competition for 600 pupils from local elementary, middle and high school students throughout Central New York.
Waterbury Hall, a 211-bed residence hall that opened in 1960 along the lakeshore at SUNY Oswego, will close to residents by Dec. 13, be emptied of all its contents by Dec. 22 and reopen in August 2015 after $8.8 million in renovations.

Fairgrieve Elementary School recently honored students who showcase gratitude as part of the school’s virtue of the month awards for November. Principal Jean Ciesla honored nearly two dozen students with the award.
The Oswego County Health Department is offering influenza immunization clinics for people age 19 and older weekdays at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
As each deceased resident’s name was read, family or St. Luke staff placed a flower in remembrance of the resident on a memorial wreath. Words of remembrance from family, songs, prayers and even some laughter as joyful memories of residents’ lives were recounted, were all a part of the ceremony.
The Oswego High School Buccaneer Bulletin won 24 awards at the annual Empire State School Press Association competition held recently at Syracuse University. The awards recognized student published work from the 2013-14 school year.
The Oswego Public Library will offer a free holiday stress management workshop on December 13 from 1 until 3 p.m. This workshop will be led by Susan Mayer in the library’s Community Room.
The public is invited to pick up a free 2015 Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor calendar starting December 1 at selected libraries and visitor centers throughout the National Heritage Corridor. Each month features one of 12 winning images from this year’s Erie Canalway photo contest.
