At its statewide conference and clinical forum in White Plains, on October 20, the Community Health Care Association of New York State honored Northern Oswego County Health Services physicians Drs. Pat and Jay Chapman. CHCANYS serves as the voice of community health centers as leading providers of primary health care in New York State.
Sixth grade students at Minetto Elementary School brought cheers and lots of laughs to a packed gymnasium recently for the school’s traditional circus event. The participants wore neon green shirts with “Minetto School Circus 2014” emblazoned on the front of each. The fun-filled event featured a variety of performances including: hula hoops, devil sticks, diabolos, juggling rings, scarves and juggling balls.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Peggy Donnelly introduced Kevin Fallis, Rotary District Foundation Chairman. Fallis, a Dewitt Rotarian for 21 years, gave a Powerpoint presentation about The Rotary Foundation.
The Oswego Festival Chorus, conducted by Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi, will present its fall concert on December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 103 W. Seventh St. Admission to the concert is free.
Granby Elementary teacher Justin Johnson has taken his teaching to the next level by writing his own books for his students to read. “My career started with a group of second graders in Fulton,” said Johnson. “As the year came to a close I thought, Hey, I want to write a story for these guys, so I went home and began working very hard on my first book.”
The 11th annual Oswego High School Bake Sale Competition will be held on November 20 during the parents’ open house at the high school from 6-8 p.m. The competition will include students from the five classes of OHS Inc., who will run a bake sale like a business.
Here it is November with snow and a smallish cat just showed up on my back porch a few days ago. I think she is sheltering under the porch, but when I go out to try to approach her and coax her inside she takes off into the woods and I don’t see her again for hours. I have been leaving food and water for her and it is gone every morning. I would let her in and take care of her in a heartbeat. How can I help her survive outside in this weather?

The dynasty continues for the Phoenix Central School District’s cheerleading team, which took home its 13th consecutive Section III Class B title during a recent competition. Surrounded by parents, school officials and friends, the Firebirds scored a 97.3 during its championship-winning routine held at Oriskany High School.
Cayla Weaver, G. Ray Bodley sophomore, wanted to do something to give back to America’s troops, and with the help of the school’s HOPE Club (Helping Other People Everywhere), one girl’s heart became a collaborative vision.
