JP Jewelers and the Oswego Community Youth Orchestra will make someone’s Christmas a lot brighter this year. On December 21 a drawing will be held for a three-stone diamond necklace in white gold.

All Oswego County offices, solid waste transfer stations, the Bristol Hill Landfill and the Materials Recovery Facility will be closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas Day and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. The Energy Recovery Facility will remain open both days to serve solid waste haulers.

More than 20 local bands and musicians will perform on December 17 from 6-11 p.m. at The American Foundry, 246 W. Scholars, scientists, educators and students are invited to submit proposals for the 20th annual Rice Creek Associates Small Grants Program by Feb. 15. Approved projects must involve work at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station. Awards are expected to range between $500 and $2,500, said Dr. Peter Rosenbaum, professor of biological sciences at SUNY Oswego.
