Charlene Purchas, of Parish, daughter of Dawn Purchas of Parish, has enrolled in Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the nation’s first and largest technological college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Purchas is a 2014 graduate of Mexico High School in Mexico.

SRC scientists gain ‘business acumen’ through customized Oswego MBA

SUNY Oswego has teamed with SRC Inc. to deliver a customized MBA degree program to employees of the research and development company at its North Syracuse offices. More than 30 SRC employees began taking classes toward the master of business administration at SRC, from pre-MBA foundational courses to electives and core classes.

G. Ray Bodley High School Principal Donna Parkhurst announced that MaKenna Cealie has been named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented by Parkhurst to the scholastically talented student at the school.

Every Dog Has Its Day Set October 19

“Every Dog Has Its Day” on October 19 when the Oswego County Humane Society holds its annual 5K run or walk and 1 mile family walk at Fallbrook Recreation Center, 103 Thompson Road, with sign in starting at 11 a.m. and races starting at noon. Dogs are welcome and each one will receive its own dog scarf. In addition to the run and walk, there will be children’s activities and games, face painting, an airhop inflatable, pet contests and a kids only silent auction.
