Fulton Lions Past President Frank Badagnani and his wife, Fran, visited the Oct. 16 club meeting to share photos and stories about their recent adventure at Makutsi Safari Springs Game Reserve in South Africa. Makutsi is a privately owned game reserve in South Africa close to both the Kruger National Park and the Hoedspruit Airport, Frank Badagnani explained.
On October 31, the students within the Fulton City School District in grades UPK – 12 will have an early dismissal. Grades 7 – 12 will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. and morning Pre K – 6 will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. There will be no afternoon Pre-K classes.
New chapter books have arrived at the Oswego Public Library in time for fall weekends and school vacations. Oswego is the first library in the North Country Library System, ncls.org, to get these titles!
Bookbrawl.com, Music Instrument Covers, Ontario Soap Company and Party & Play Cafe have been selected as the four finalists for the 2014 Next Great Idea Oswego County Business Plan Competition- it was announced by Austin Wheelock, chair of the NGI steering committee. On Nov. 13, each finalist will give a 20-minute presentation on their business plan in-person to the panel of judges.
The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 998 students for the 2014-15 academic year. These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.
The Veterans’ Day program, sponsored by the Oswego Town Historical Society, will be held November 8 at 10 a.m. at the Oswego Town Hall, 2320 County Route 7. This annual event honors the living veterans of Oswego Town.
Oswego County Opportunities’ Services to Aid Families program is the domestic violence and rape crisis program serving Oswego County. The Oswego City Police Department supports SAF in the achievement of this goal and to help raise awareness, each marked patrol car at the Oswego City Police Department will display a purple ribbon throughout the month of October.
I was in a pet store the other day, They had the most gorgeous Golden Retriever puppies for sale, about 7 weeks old. I know that a lot of puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills and I would not support that, so I asked and the owner assured me that all of her puppies come from local breeders and if I bought one, she would give me the paperwork. What do you think?
Laura Donnelly of SUNY Oswego’s English and creative writing faculty recently released “Watershed,” an award-winning poetry collection whose genesis is a story of observation, practice and perseverance. “Watershed” earned the 2013 Cider Press Review Editors Prize and was published by the company.
