Participants in ARISE programs as well as Oswego County ARC and Oswego County Opportunities had the terrific opportunity to participate in a two-day golf clinic hosted by John Hayes and the Evergreen Hills Golf Course. Oswego Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie served as a volunteer instructor and worked with participants on proper golf etiquette and form.

Noted local historian and newspaperman Richard Palmer will present a discussion about the War of 1812 journal of Major Robert Carr. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. on September 24 in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks inside Fort Ontario State Historic Site, 1 E. Fourth St. The program is free and open to the public.

Steve Canale, Alison Scanlon and their staff of the Press Box, will be providing the next Guest Chef Dinner for the Oswego County Salvation Army on October 7; serving from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M., for dining in or taking out, at the Citadel, 73 W. Second St. Their menu for the evening will be meatloaf, their famous macaroni and cheese, Italian green beans and tossed salad.

CAC Executive Director Karrie Damm wants you to “Bailamos” (dance with us) as one of Central New York’s premier dance bands, The Billionaires, provides the entertainment for what promises to be the event of the fall season, the CAC Fiesta Masquerade.

First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St., will host the third annual Blessing of the Animals service on September 21 at 2 p.m. Weather permitting, the service will be held in the church parking area. If the weather is unkind, they will meet in the Fellowship Hall.

The Oswego Firefighters held their annual Fill the Boot drive on September 30. Through their efforts and the generosity of local motorists they were able to collect $10,019.60 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Rachel’s Challenge presentation is coming to the Fulton Junior High School on September 24 beginning with an inspirational presentation to 7th and 8th graders in the morning, an afternoon presentation to student leaders and staff members, and a third presentation open to the public at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

There will be a political rally and Second Amendment rally at Bull Head Point on Sept. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be a chicken barbecue ($3) eat in.
