Backpack Drive to support United Way’s Stuff-a-Bus

For the second consecutive summer, Human Concerns, Oswego’s emergency food pantry along with AmeriCorps member, Evan Oustrich, is conducting a backpack drive to aid the United Way’s Stuff-a-Bus campaign. There is a great need throughout Oswego County for backpacks so that students can carry their belongings to school.

I just adopted a new cat, Marvella, (no I did not choose that name, but she’s three and she seems to know it) and she seems very loving and friendly except for one thing. She will jump on my lap and act really affectionate and I will pet her and then suddenly she will hiss and try to bite me and jump down like she is really mad at me.

Office for the Aging Sponsors Training on Elder Abuse Aug. 27

The Oswego County Office for the Aging will co-sponsor a free training program Aug. 27 for professionals who want to learn more about combating elder abuse and the financial exploitation of older people. The training will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St. Registration and lunch are free. Registration is required by Aug. 15.
