Residents at Michaud Residential Health Services have been taking paint brush in hand as part of an oil painting class being led by volunteer Mark Colgan. And what has become evident is that no matter one’s experience level, the opportunity to try something new or to continue an interest in painting has been well received by participants.
One of the area’s most popular music groups, Long Time Coming, will add its classic rock sound to the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival with a live performance at 4 p.m., October 4 on the Great Pumpkin stage. Comprised of local musicians who have performed with several well-known local bands over the years, Long Time Coming formed in 2012 at the suggestion of bass player, Jim Dillabough.
Students at Granby Elementary danced the night away at the Family Kickoff Picnic on Sept. 11. Sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Group, the evening was a huge success with large attendance from students and their families.
The United Baptist Church of Scriba, located at 5111 State Route 104E, will have a Coffeehouse on September 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. The band Lost and Found will be playing its unique blend of Christian contemporary hits from today and yesterday.
Come to the Cleveland Historical Society on September 18 to hear “From the Beach to the Lake,” a discussion about railroad history with author John Taibi. His presentation begins at 7 p.m. at the society in the former St. James Episcopal Church, 7 North St., Cleveland. The event is free and open to the public.
Physical Therapist Deb Groff has recently joined the rehabilitation staff at Oswego Health’s Central Square Medical Center. “The patients have been great and I really enjoy working in this beautiful, spacious facility that features new equipment, including a state-of-the-art spinal traction table,” Groff said.
The Shirts and Skirts Square Dance Club will host a free get acquainted dance on September 19 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. No dancing experience is necessary. Dress is casual and having a dance partner is not required.

The Oswego County Office for the Aging will review a summary of its plan of services to the elderly for 2015 – 2016 on Oct. 2 at 11:15 a.m. at the senior dining and activity sites in Fulton and Sandy Creek. Public hearings on the plan will be held at the same times and locations. The plan is prepared in accordance with the Older Americans Act and is available for inspection weekdays at the Oswego County Office for the Aging, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
