Food, fun and family are on the menu this week during lunchtime at Fairley Elementary School. Each day, students from a different grade level are welcoming their grandparents into school to bond over food while celebrating family.
The sold-out event featured a buffet-style dinner, guest speakers, and a showing of 12 Years a Slave, a film that captured the 2013 Academy Award for Best Picture. The event’s two guest speakers, Richard Linzy and Dr. Joseph Sgarlata spoke about Northup and the film 12 Years a Slave prior to the film presentation.
Members of the True Beauty Club at Sandy Creek High School recently held a suicide awareness day at the school. The students had a table set up with information about teen depression and suicide prevention.
Students at Granby participated in a district-wide PBIS celebration on May 2. Third and fourth graders worked together to build a large tower of speed stacks.
The G. Ray Bodley High School class of 1984 has its class reunion planned for July 18 and 19. But, we are still missing many of our classmates email addresses or street addresses.
Volney Elementary School students attended a special assembly to recognize positive behavior and for being role models. Principal Lisa Garofalo gave certificates to one student from each classroom that exemplified the May character trait, effort.
Phoenix Central School District seniors Ian Evans and Meghan Lentz have been named the top two of the John C. Birdlebough High School Class of 2014. Earning an overall grade point average of 101.58, Evans will graduate as the JCB class valedictorian. Finishing her four years at JCB with an overall grade point average of 100.82, Lentz will graduate as the JCB class salutatorian.
The students presented “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type” by Doreen Cronin. The book tells the story of Farmer Brown’s cows, who find an old typewriter in the barn and proceed to write letters to the farmer, listing demands.
