Dominican College of Blauvelt, NY, is pleased to announce that Tessa Redsicker, a resident of Altmar, was granted a degree, ME, from the College during commencement on May 18.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Recently, Mexico Middle School seventh and eighth grade symphonic bands swept the Hershey Park Music Festival by taking first place trophies in concert, jazz and marching bands, and the most coveted trophy, the “Espirt de Corps” award. “The Espirt de Corps trophy is awarded to the school that displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior,” said band director Kevin Upcraft.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education recognized the middle school Oswego “Battle of the Books” winners at recent board meeting. The seventh and eighth graders earned a berth in the county wide competition.
Kayleigh Moyer, of Pennellville, qualified for the Spring 2014 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
At a time when government support and nonprofit business models are changing, Oswego’s charitable organizations will soon have another permanent source of philanthropic support. The newly created Oswego County Community Foundation has already secured $200,000 in matching dollars to jump-start its endowment fundraising effort.
First celebrated in June 1910, at the Spokane YMCA in Washington, Father’s Day is now a national celebrated holiday. In keeping with tradition the Fulton Family YMCA is hosting a Father’s Day BBQ on June 6 from 6 – 8 p.m.
The city of Oswego will host its first free bike safety event co-sponsored by the Oswego City Police Department and Oswego City Fire Department on June 6. It will take place at the East Side Fire Station from 5 to 8 p.m., rain or shine.
Emily Meyers, a senior English Education major of Central Square, was among approximately 1,400 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2014 Dean’s List.
