The SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center will host a free information session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 6, for people who are interested in learning more about a professional career in medical billing and coding. Fairgrieve Elementary School Principal Jean Ciesla recently recognized more than 115 students with Academic Excellence Awards. The students were nominated by their classroom teachers based on their academic standing and outstanding behavior and attitude in the classroom.

After a handful of snow days altered the Phoenix Central School District’s schedule, students at Michael A. Maroun finally had a chance to celebrate the 100-day mark Thursday (Feb. 27). In first-grade classrooms, students rejoiced by capping off a month-long food drive to collect 100 items for the local food pantry.
The Oswego War of 1812 Symposium features a compelling series of lectures and exhibits about the war and its effects along the New York-Canadian Frontier. Come to the Lake Ontario Conference and Event Center on East First Street in Oswego for the event which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 6.

Alyssa Stout, from Pulaski, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at Buena Vista University. Students named to the Dean’s List must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester based on a 4.0 grade point system and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.
Homelessness. It’s an issue that many know exists, but few feel comfortable discussing. On March 13, the issue of homelessness in Oswego County will be front and center as COACH, Oswego County’s continuum of Care committee hosts a community forum on the topic.
