Numerous students at The Buc Junior-Senior High School in Oswego have internships which take them to job sites throughout the area. Many students require safe footwear during their time out of the school. NRG, in Oswego, recently donated 20 pairs of steel-toed Timberland boots.

Events that take place between April and October will be posted on the county tourism Web site and listed in the calendar, which is widely distributed at travel and vacation shows, chambers of commerce, NYS Thruway information centers, businesses and other outlets.

The Blizzard Bags program provides OCO’s clients with an emergency supply of food in the event that they are unable to receive their regular home delivered meal due to inclement weather conditions. Helping fill more than 300 Blizzard Bags recently are members of the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club.

Originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts, 22-year-old Leah Doherty, loves drawing, painting, coloring and crafts. Leah is one of many local artists that are featured as part of a special gallery located at The Connection Point on West First Street in downtown Oswego.

You can sing with us on January 25 at 7 p.m. at our first-ever Karaoke Night at First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St. Yes, bring your voice and your friends, and pitch in with your favorite vocals, both new and old. Admission is free.

Alaina Hubbell a school age student from Discovery Day Care used her artistic talent to paint the window for the holiday season. The school age students brainstormed on what they wanted to paint on the windows.

This is freewill month. Donations accepted but not expected. Breakfasts are served the third Sunday of the month. The next one is set for January 19 from 8 a.m. – noon at the Masonic Hall, 765 E. Seneca St., Oswego.

Emily Meyers, a Senior English Education major of Central Square, was among approximately 1,450 Bob Jones University students who were named to the Fall 2013 Dean’s List.

The students at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School competed for the opportunity to earn a position in this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee regional. The top three finishers are advancing to the regional competition. They are John Alejandro, Ava Cloonan and Scotty Schladebeck.
