Students at Granby Elementary School wrote letters to Santa that will also benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York through the Macy’s Believe Campaign. Macy’s Department Stores will donate $1 to MAW for every letter to Santa they receive in their special “Believe” mailboxes, up to $1 million nationwide.

President Deborah F. Stanley of SUNY Oswego invites one and all from the community to share in the college’s recreational opportunities during Cruisin’ the Campus at the Holidays, Dec. 23 to Jan. 26.

The students held a Spell-a-thon where they used pledge sheets to raise money for every correctly spelled word from a list of 100 words. Through the generosity of family and friends, each third grade student was given $15 to spend on a child they were shopping for.

The Fairley Elementary School cafeteria was buzzing with excitement on Dec. 12 as 120 students helped make holiday cookie cutouts. All five of the district’s second-grade classes took part in the annual cookie-making event, as they followed a recipe to make dough and then made hundreds of cutouts ranging from stars to gingerbread men to Christmas trees.

Students of G. Ray Bodley’s H.O.P.E. Club are giving back to their community this holiday season. On a Saturday in early December, members of the club volunteered to be bell ringers for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

The John C. Birdlebough High School auditorium was filled to capacity on Dec. 10 as middle school musicians performed holiday songs during the winter concert. Under the direction of James DeMauro, the Emerson J. Dillon jazz band opened the evening with “Ye Jazzy Gentlemen” and “O Holy Night,” bringing the crowd to its feet with the festive music.

Kinney Drugs in Fulton has added to the holiday celebrations for residents of Michaud Residential Health Services. Through their “Be A Santa For A Senior” program, the Fulton Kinney Drugs collected gifts, and donated them to Michaud – to help make sure residents find something special under the Christmas tree this season.

The weather outside might have been frightful on Monday, but the music filling the John C. Birdlebough Auditorium was more than delightful! The Phoenix Community Band, under the direction of director David Frateschi, performed their much anticipated annual Winter Concert series on December 16.

Career and Technical Education students enrolled in the morning and the afternoon Public Safety and Justice programs at Oswego County BOCES organized a community outreach project to benefit the ‘Toys For Tots’
