Video, still photos and sound and scene design all will work to add sizzle to the SUNY Oswego theatre department’s Oct. 17 to 19 and 25 to 27 staging of “Fahrenheit 451,” based on Ray Bradbury’s iconic book and play about censorship of the written word.
The CNY Arts Center “Arts in the heART Gallery” has new things happening again. It’s such a pleasure to see so many local talented artists with their work on display and for sale. With such a convenient and great location at 47 S. First St. in downtown Fulton, it’s easy to stop in and check out all the amazing things.
After several months of offering their monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet proceeds as a benefit to local non-profit organizations, worthy causes and charities, once again the Lake City Masonic Lodge No. 127 and the ladies of The Order of Eastern Star No. 205 are happy to present a freewill breakfast on October 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. Donations are accepted but not expected.
The Oswego Players’ 75th season is winding down, with two more shows to go, plus a co-production with the Church of the Resurrection, of the very popular “Death in the OR,” adapted by Dr. Michael Nupuf. “Death in the OR,” directed by Inez Manor Parker, will reprise as dinner theatre at the church on October 24 and 25.
These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.
Oswego Health’s two new otolaryngologists, who treat a variety of ear, nose and throat issues, as well as provide facial plastic surgery, will host an Ask The Doctor program at 6 p.m. on October 22 in the lower level JPC conference room of the Oswego Health Services Center, which is adjacent to Oswego Hospital.
The three days show family members and friends what SUNY Oswego students have been up to for the first several weeks of the semester, while providing a range of special events for the campus and community to enjoy. Most events are free and open to all.
Communication between Frederick Leighton Elementary School students, bus drivers, crossing guards, teachers and staff is critical to a smooth running educational environment. Once again for the 11th straight year the cooperative effort continues with a special year opening event.
When New York’s American Legion leaders visited Oswego County Oct. 5, they were treated to some Marine Junior ROTC drilling at Mexico Academy and Central School, a glimpse of the War of Independence in a scenic mural, and a reminder to “Support Our Troops” during lunch at Horning-Fournier American Legion Post 418 in Phoenix.
The H. Lee White Museum & Maritime Center, located on the West First Street Pier in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District, is open 1 – 5 p.m. Monday – Sunday throughout the year.
