Wings of Grace Ministry would like to invite all ladies and teen girls to a morning of fun, fellowship, food, upbeat music, and an encouraging word! This awesome event will be September 14 at the Sandy Creek Methodist Church, 2301 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek. The church women are serving a free continental breakfast from 9 – 9:45 a.m. followed by our exciting program.

On October 29, Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training and SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations will gather women from across New York State for Connections, a day-long conference to be held at River Vista Center in Fulton. The theme is “Connect – Pursue – Advance” and will feature several speakers, networking opportunities, breakfast, lunch, a dessert reception, and a women’s marketplace.

Six students and two theatre faculty members from SUNY Oswego participated in August in the world’s largest performing arts festival, taking their production of “Desdemona, A Play About a Handkerchief” to the stages and streets of Edinburgh, Scotland. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival — a monthlong kaleidoscope of more than 2,100 theatre, music, dance and comedy productions — drew the SUNY Oswego troupe for a jam-packed 11-day trip.

Grossman St. Amour, Certified Public Accountants PLLC, is volunteering services as the official auditors of the seventh annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest. This annual benefit for Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County (LVOC), takes place on Sept. 20, from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge.

Oswego County Opportunities, one of the top 10 largest private employers in Oswego County, has welcomed six new members to the agency’s staff. The new employees, who will join the OCO’s staff of human services professionals, recently completed the agency’s orientation process and will begin to serve consumers in their respective programs.

In Oswego County, the fair will take place on October 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial and in St. Lawrence County, it will take place on October 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Oddfellows.

The Pride travel softball program will have a tryout/commitment day from 3 – 5 p.m. on September 8 at the Oswego High School varsity softball field for any girl interested in playing Pride travel softball next summer. (In case of rain, the session will be held at The YMCA Armory on West First Street). The session will consist of skill work and a scrimmage game conducted by Ron Ahart and Mike McCrobie. All Pride coaches will be on hand to evaluate players for the 2014 season.

In addition to our four-part Introduction to Computers workshop, the Oswego Public Library is also featuring Writing Cover Letters, Intro to Microsoft Word, Advanced Pinterest, and Self-Publishing & Marketing Your Book.

The Oswego County Health Department will hold a rabies clinic for cats, dogs, and pet ferrets from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Schroeppel Town Highway Garage, 69 county Route 57A.  New York State law requires that all cats, dogs, and pet ferrets be vaccinated against rabies. The first rabies vaccine should be given at three months of age.
