The reunion committee for the Oswego High School Class of ’68 is putting together the final pieces in preparation for its 45th Reunion, which is being held Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28.
The “Arts in the heART Gallery” in Fulton will soon be saying goodbye to one of its artists. Watercolor and collage artist Rose Besch, who lives in the Fulton area seasonally, will be leaving soon to spend her fall and winter months in the south. There she will continue her painting and art shows.
We have two favors to ask of you. The first one is . . . Send us questions. Now here’s the second thing. Our 72 foster cats eat a lot of cat food. They are eating machines. We need your help with this if you can. We need donations of dry cat and kitten food.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10, at the Department of Social Services, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.
Carol Burghart, local watercolorist and Lakeside Artisans member, is offering a full-day workshop in the use of gold gesso as underpainting for watercolor paintings. The workshop will take place at Lakeside Artisans on September 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Yard sales; bargain shopping; treasure hunting; gift giving…all these and more describe CNY Arts Center’s third annual Arts Market set for Sept 14. Timed to coincide with Fulton’s annual City-Wide Yard Sale event, the CNY Arts Center will host another gathering of artists, crafters, and flea market vendors, to serve a feast for the sidewalk shopper.
The 2013 Discover Clean and Safe Boat will be at the New York State Fair August 30-September 2 with its message about how motorized and non-motorized boaters can enjoy New York waters legally, safely and in an environmentally-friendly way. The 16-foot, made-in-Marathon-NY vessel that is equipped with gear required and recommended for boating on New York waters will be on exhibit in the Cornell Youth Building.
Earlier this month, the kids of Taft Bay assisted AmeriCorps worker Cassandra Tighe in her community project. Although the kids could not swim in the lake due to blue-green algae, they wanted to give back to the place they call home for the summer. They planted more than 30 flowers around the Craft Shack and covered the flowers with mulch.

Workshops will be held on September 5 from 2 – 4 p.m. and September 6 from 10 – noon in the Library Learning Center.
