State Senator Patty Ritchie announced Monday she has secured a special, $50,000 grant to provide a school resource officer for the Central Square School District. Oswego native Chelsea Bartlett becomes the second Oswego Harborfest intern to take on a staff position in as many years as she was recently named Volunteer Coordinator for the 26th festival which runs from July 25 through 28. Former intern Dorothy Strahley will complete her second year as the staff’s Vendor Coordinator with the conclusion of the 2013 event.

The new employees, who will join the OCO’s staff of human services professionals, recently completed the agency’s orientation process and will begin to serve consumers in their respective programs.
Students at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School ended the year with a trip around the globe and they didn’t even need to leave their school. The school’s physical education teaching team in cooperation with the APW Parent-Teacher-Student Association coordinated the first ever World Field Day for students in universal pre-kindergarten through grade six.
