The solar paintings of Oswego artist Bert Leighton will shine in a free exhibition July 12 to Sept. 14 at Oswego State Downtown. An opening artist’s reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12, at the SUNY Oswego store and gallery at the corner of West First and Bridge streets.
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, has initiated walking clubs throughout Oswego County. The Oswego Community Walking Club began June 19 and will continue on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. before expanding to other days and times.
With a year of fundraising and grant writing for camp sponsorships successfully accomplished, CNY Arts Center is ready to launch the second annual Arty Day Camp with summer art fun, July 15-19 and August 19-23, for ages 5-15 at CNY Arts Center, 357 State St.

First grade students at Fairgrieve Elementary School recently held a very special reading celebration. School Librarian Barb Senecal honored the first grade students for their reading achievements and their participation in the Accelerated Reader program this school year with a Teddy Bear Picnic.
Parents and family members along with BOCES and component school district officials gathered for the distinguished ceremony to celebrate the students’ accomplishments and educational achievements as they prepare for careers in police science, security, surveillance, corrections, emergency medical response, and firefighting.
The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH), Dean Michael Barry Division 1, partnered with the Oswego Human Concerns Center recently, by gathering and donating non-perishable food items.
