The Oswego County Historical Society will hosts its second lecture of the 2013 series on May 19. Dr. Terrance Hammill, chairman of the Port of Oswego Authority will present a program entitled "History of Oswego's Port Authority." Pictured is a view of a barge and a train passing by the Port Authority grounds on the east side of the Oswego River, with the west side port property pictured in the background.The Oswego County Historical Society will host the second lecture of the season on May 19. Guest lecturer Dr. Terrence Hammill will present a program entitled “The History of Oswego’s Port Authority.” A professor emeritus of SUNY Oswego and twice mayor of the city of Oswego, Dr. Hammill is the currently the chairman of the board of the Port of Oswego Authority.

Barbers Clip To Benefit Oswego YoungsterRecently, the barbers of Downtown Barber & Shave Company located in the Canal Commons on West First Street, donated all the proceeds from their sales and tips to a special fund set up in support of local Oswego resident, Makalya Walker. Eleven-year-od Makayla was diagnosed with an abdominal desmoid tumor. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse.

CNY Arts Center Expands With Gallery Opening

The bad news is everyone thinks CNY Arts Center is moving out of its present location in State Street Methodist Church, 357 State St., where classes, theatre events, Writer’s Café, Author’s Spotlight and Arty Camp still take place. The good news is CNY Arts Center is expanding with the opening of a second location, an art gallery in downtown Fulton.
