The Human Concerns Center would like to thank both postal employees and community members for their participation in the May 11 “Stamp Out Hunger” letter carrier food drive. The event is the largest one-day food drive in the world. It allows every resident in the county and across the nation to donate food that ultimately stays within the community to help its needy neighbors.
Stores in the Canal Commons are selling tickets for the Hospice Regatta Drawing to win this handmade nautical quilt or a $150 gas card. The quilt was made and donated by Peggy Stone and Cindy Mather. The gas card was donated by KTM Mini Marts. Tickets will be available at Lakeside Artisans, Taste the World, Maida’s and Man in the Moon Candies.
The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Parade Committee will be holding a pulled pork dinner, Pork in the Parking Lot, on Saturday beginning at noon at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego to raise funds for the upcoming Independence Parade and Celebration.
Staff from Oswego Health’s Central Square Medical Center recently provided free screenings to senior citizens at St. Bernadette’s Bistro in Constantia. The Medical Center, located at 3045 East Avenue in the village of Central Square offers urgent care, lab, medical imaging, women’s health and physical therapy services.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will conduct a regular business meeting at the Education Center Board Room on Tuesday. Student and community recognition will be conducted when the public portion of the meeting resumes at approximately 6 p.m.

A panel of volunteer judges has selected the artwork of five SUNY Oswego employees to join the Everson Museum of Art’s Sept. 12 to Oct. 6 exhibition of “On My Own Time” pieces from companies and institutions around the region.
Mr. Dana Oliver, EMT with Menter Ambulance, received a Traffic Safety Appreciation Award from BC Brady, of the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board. Oliver learned that the Child Passenger Trailer needed a part and generously donated one to help keep the program moving and children riding as safely as possible.
State Senator Patty Ritchie joined with members of her Agricultural Advisory Council in Watertown recently to explore energy savings that would benefit the farming community. Featured at the meeting was a presentation by National Grid, where a representative from the utility outlined ways farmers can save on energy bills.
To help raise awareness of, and address the issue of teen pregnancy, Oswego County Opportunities Health Education and Crisis Development Services is stepping up its efforts to reverse the rate of teen pregnancy in Oswego County.
