SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations will graduate its 21-member Leadership Oswego County class of 2013 on May 31, and present awards to two community leaders.
Career and Technical Education students from Oswego County BOCES joined well over 2,000 students from other BOCES, technical career centers and high schools for the 47th Annual New York State Leadership and SkillsUSA Championships.
Several local residents are scheduled to complete their baccalaureate studies this year at SUNY Oswego.
The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center are offering a variety of youth and adult sailing classes to help community members learn to enjoy our amazing waterfront. The classes will run through June, July and August and cover a variety of skill levels. They are instructed by a U.S. Sailing Association certified instructor.
The Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, May 13 in the College’s Student Lounge on the Auburn Campus, 197 Franklin St.
The board is expected to resume discussion of budgetary and bargaining unit issues.
Judy Young, a member of the Fulton Memorial Day Salute committee, met with Tina Stephens, assistant vice president and branch manager, and Lisa Merritt, customer service rep, representing Community Bank, supporters of the 32nd annual salute and the sponsor of the fireworks.
Executive Director of Oswego County Opportunities, Diane Cooper-Currier has announced that Stephanie Meeker was recently honored with the agency’s prestigious Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award during OCO’s Annual Meeting held April 24 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
New York State continues to have one of the highest rates of Lyme disease in the country. In Oswego County, cases of Lyme disease have been on the increase for the past few years, although the numbers remain low. Reported human cases in Oswego County were 5 in 2009, 13 in 2010, 19 in 2011, and 42 in 2012.
Heather M. Coppola of Oswego will receive a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Alvernia University. Coppola studied at the university’s main campus.
