The officers and directors of the Friends of History In Fulton have issued an invitation to their annual “Porch Party” fundraiser to be held at the John Wells Pratt House local history museum at 177 S. First St. The event will be held on June 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

SUNY Oswego presented scholarships and other awards to 111 students at the college’s spring Honors Convocation.  Several local residents were honored

A dozen volunteers from Oswego Laborers Local 633 and the Central and Northern NY Building Trades Council members, jumped in with both feet on the morning of May 13 to transform a tax-foreclosed property into a new starter home for a lucky family in Oswego.

Wreaths have been a favorite form of decoration and recently we’ve adopted the wreath as a traditional symbol of welcome during the holidays. Today they are no longer just for the winter season, but can be a beautiful living wreath made up of hens and chickens and other succulents that will last throughout the year with a little care.

SUNY Oswego Police Lieutenant Kevin Velzy welcomed ABATE Vice President Bruce Le Porte and President Jim Waterman to present a moving and informative  program on motorcycle safety. The presentation was two fold: safer motorist behavior keeps motorcyclists safer.

Cayuga Community College will recognize 630 graduates during its commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday in Spartan Hall, 197 Franklin St.  The Commencement addresses will be delivered by two members of the Class of 2013 who are SUNY Chancellor Award for Student Excellence recipients: Catherine Faith Fanning of Waterloo and Brian M. Knapp of Fleming.

Central New York’s only all-Beatles tribute, Magical Mystery Tour, will be the Friday night featured entertainment for Fulton’s 32nd Annual Memorial Day Salute. A splendid time is guaranteed for all when they take the stage on May 24 at 7 p.m.

Robyn Tobin has Astrocytoma – a form of brain cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. To help offset medical expenses, a chicken BBQ and bake sale will be held on June 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fulton First United Methodist Church,

Commemorate Armed Forces Day, May 18, by coming to Fort Ontario State Historic Site on our seasonal opening day and attending a walking tour of the Post Cemetery. The Post Cemetery presents a cross section of those who served and died at Fort Ontario from the French and Indian War through World War II; it contains the bodies of 77 individuals, including soldiers, officers, wives, children and one soldier’s mother.
