February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month – an opportunity to engage youth, reach new audiences to raise awareness about dating abuse and support young people in learning to have safe and healthy relationships.

The Secret Garden will be presented as the annual Oswego High School musical this Friday and Saturday night (February 8-9) at 7:30 p.m.

Nicholas Bertsch, son of Susan and Perry Bertsch of Oswego, has enrolled for fall 2013 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology.

With this morning’s (Feb. 4) heavy snowfall, residents who are unable to clear snow away from hydrants can call the Oswego Fire Department at 343-2161 and firefighters will go and shovel out the hydrant.

The Oswego High School will be hosting a hands-on workshop Wednesday to provide high school seniors planning to attend college, and their parents, the opportunity to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line.

The Oswego War of 1812 Symposium returns to the Port City for its third year. It runs from April 5 to 7 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St.,  Oswego. The event continues the bicentennial commemoration of the historic war that firmly established America’s independence from Great Britain and confirmed its national identity.

The Oswego City School District Board of Education conducted its rescheduled business meeting on January 30. The first order of business was to approve a variety of resolutions relating to the annual school district budget and board of education member election scheduled for Tuesday, May 21.
