The Oswego High School National Honor Society is supplying financial and physical support to the “Run for Dennis” run and walk in memory of Dennis Pacheco who passed away in 2011. Proceeds will benefit bladder cancer advocacy and research.

The students and staff raised more than $2,000. It will help defray the cost of his extensive medical bills and costs associated with his extended hospital stay.

The Oswego City School District is gearing up to welcome next year’s class of  Universal Pre-Kindergarten students. Applications for the Oswego City School District Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program are now available.

The Public Computing Center at Oswego Public Library holds two-hour workshops every Saturday to meet the needs of local community members to learn about a variety of computer related topics.

Charles E. Riley Elementary School librarian Molly Clark provided a unique opportunity for students. She coordinated a special enrichment project for 24 Riley students. Students were “selected by their teachers and participated in a collaborative art project with schools from around the country and the world.

The students captured first place in the “Promoting Dance In Our Schools” competition hosted by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYS AHPERD), Central North Zone.

AmeriCorps Week spans from March 10 through 18 and serves as a time to recognize members and volunteers for their service and impact on the local community.

After his telephone town hall event March 6, which followed six face-to-face town hall meetings the previous week, Assemblyman Bob Oaks (R, C-Macedon) said he was pleased with the response from constituents and the diversity of topics discussed.
