Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski) said Friday he was encouraged to hear news that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved the license for two new nuclear reactors in Georgia.

Christian Community Church, 121 Elderberry Lane, Central Square, is holding Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University classes. They’re scheduled for Sundays at 6:30 p.m. from February 26 through May 20.

The New York State Sheriffs’ Association held its election and installation of executive committee members and trustees at its recent 78th Annual Mid-Winter Training Conference. Members elected Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Todd to the executive committee.

Oswego County Teachers’ Association president, Pat Kush recently presented Casey Walpole, president of the Oswego County Labor Council, with a donation. It was to help with their annual Christmas Basket program.

The following students have been selected for inclusion on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Hannibal Historical Society begins its spring schedule with a covered dish dinner on February 27 at 6 p.m. at the Community Center on Oswego Street. Members and friends are invited to bring a dish to pass and their own place setting. A business meeting will follow the dinner.

With winter break right around the corner, Feb 20-24 for most school districts, CNY Arts Center plans to continue the fun began with the recent Arts Snow Day. Jim Farfaglia, local author and poet, will host “Break into Writing.”

“Too many nursing home residents will spend Valentine’s Day alone, forgotten by  friends and family,” Senator Ritchie said. “We can make a difference in their lives by sending a card or dropping by for a visit.”

It is expected the board will reconvene at 6 p.m. and move directly to the committee meetings addressing curriculum, personnel and finance before resuming the regular meeting.
