Conservative Party Seeks Candidates
The Oswego County Committee of the State Conservative Party will hold an Interview and Endorsement meeting on Wednesday May 25th, and Thursday May 26th.
Oswego County’s awardee Christina Scriber was selected based on her involvement in a number of community activities, including her service as a youth representative for St. Anne, Mother of Mary Church, volunteer for the American Red Cross, a religious education teacher at her church, and president of the APW Red Cross Club.
The theme for this year’s Memorial Day Salute Parade is “Proud To Be An American”. Many area individuals, organizations, businesses and industries will try to develop their interpretation of this theme in the vehicles or floats they will enter in the parade on Saturday, May 28th.
In commemoration of Flag Day, a display of the many flags that have flown over Fort Ontario and the United States will be exhibited and explained by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Oswego Lodge #271. More than 250 school children will be at the old fort on June 14 at 10 a.m.
Award-winning author, free lance writer and photographer Susan Peterson Gateley, will share her work for the fourth Native Circle Touch the Earth Festival on May 28 at Mexico Point Park. Gateley is the author of eight books about Lake Ontario history and ecology.
Oswego County residents are invited to attend an open house to review the County’s new, preliminary flood maps on May 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the Oswego High School Cafeteria, 2 Buccaneer Blvd. There will be another open house on May 26 from 4-8 p.m. at the Central Square Middle School gymnasium, 248 U.S. Route 11, Central Square.
