When it comes to appreciating the importance of volunteering, no one understands it better than the United Way of Greater Oswego County. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the United Way and play a major role in success of many of its initiatives and annual campaign.

By collecting pennies and buying paper pennies for $1, students were able to raise $1,739.39 to support the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

“This is our silver anniversary this year, and it will be particularly unique,” said Bernie Henderson, co-chair of the event. “In fact, we will be auctioning some sterling and plated silver items in honor of our milestone.”

With plans for the United Way’s Fourth Annual ‘Stone Soup Too’ Luncheon under way, the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Route 3 in Granby will be lending its support to the event by hosting a food drive on March 10.
