Granby Elementary held its Winter Family Movie Night on Feb. 10. Students and their families came with their blackets and lawn chairs to eat popcorn and watch, The Smurfs.

Attendees enjoyed an occasion for exploration and imaginative play of toys in a kid friendly play zone. This two-hour long event provided an optimal opportunity for recreation during the mid-winter break. Nearly 25 children were in attendance.

On February 16, Lisa Williams was awarded the Cystic Fibrosis Commitment Award presented by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Executive Director, Karen Ferguson and Chris Hoffman, Development Director, both from the Central NY Chapter.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 888 and Cub Scout Pack 888 celebrated the birth of scouting or ‘Scout Sunday’ by attending St. Mary’s in Oswego on Feb. 5 at the 10:45 a.m. Mass. They took part in the processional into the church served as flag bearers and ushered the family bearing the gifts.

The Oswego High School, Middle School and Charles E. Riley choruses will get an early start on the month long celebration as they perform on Wednesday, February 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Oswego High School Ralph M. Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee recently presented Cheryl Claven with a certificate of appreciation for her 25 years of service to the county.

In recognition of National Mentoring Month, Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s CYO Mentoring Program held a luncheon recently to honor junior high and high school students from the Fulton, Sandy Creek, and Mexico school districts who volunteer as mentors for their local elementary students.
