Rotarians Meet Fulton Man who Lost 200 Pounds

Jay Wornick, left, is thanked by Rotarian Carol Vescio for his presentation to the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting.  Wornick explained how he changed his lifestyle and lost 200 pounds since January 1st.  He used a combined program of natural foods, fruits and vegetables along with daily exercise at our local YMCA to reduce his weight.   Jay 's interesting story made national headlines and he and his family appeared on "Good Morning America"   recently.    They will also appear with Anderson Cooper on January 3rd.  Jay,  a husband, father of three and a full-time History major at Cayuga Community College, is an inspiration to all who are fighting to overcome any addiction.    The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.  Wornick explained how he changed his lifestyle and lost 200 pounds since January 1st. He used a combined program of natural foods, fruits and vegetables along with daily exercise at our local YMCA to reduce his weight.

Exploring Culture, Learning Tolerance at APW

Gyoshin Virginia Lawson from the Zen Center of Syracuse Hoen-ji demonstrates to students in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District some of the sounds that signal to start or stop a chanting in the meditation practice known as Zen. APW students visited the Zen Center as part of a field trip to experience firsthand some of the influences of western cultures on today’s modern society. APW students pictured above include in the front row, left to right, Jamie Ford, Kayleigh Burke and Kelly Murphy. In the second row, left to right, Andrey Bayev, Maggie Allardice, APW High School Art Teacher Christina O’Hara, and Brooke Benedetto.Juniors and seniors in the Western Civilization and Anthropology classes at the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School were given an opportunity to step outside their classroom recently to experience firsthand the influences of western cultures on today’s modern society.

CNY Arts Center Charter Year Finishes Strong

Ginger Jacopelle, left, and Mary Jane Visser oversee the decorations on CNY Arts Center Christmas Tree entry in the Pratt House Museum Parade of Trees held recently in Fulton. The group is working to bring an arts center for all arts and all ages to the region. More information about the group can be found at www.CNYArtsCenter.com. With the approach of year’s end, CNY Arts Center declared their charter year a success for the grass roots organization begun last spring when a handful of Fultonians determined to have a positive impact on their community.
