BOCES Students Present “The Ugly Pumpkin”

November 30, 2011 Submitted article

Students in Julie Galvin’s class at the Oswego County BOCES Fourth Street School in Fulton presented a fun and seasonally festive play titled “The Ugly Pumpkin” for parents, family members, and fellow students recently. The play, written by Carol Pugliano, was similar in premise to the story of the Ugly Duckling and followed two pumpkin farmers as watched a crop of seedlings sprout and grow. Much to their dismay the crop yielded one oddly shaped yellow pumpkin that they were sure was never going to be selected for the local school’s jack-o-lantern contest. The “ugly” pumpkin, played by OCB Teaching Assistant Shan Warren above, was not only selected by a student (played by Mark Bagley, center) for the contest, but captured a first place blue ribbon. Also pictured is OCB student Tyler Seales who played the part of a giant orange pumpkin in the production.Students in Julie Galvin’s class at the Oswego County BOCES Fourth Street School in Fulton presented a fun and seasonally festive play titled “The Ugly Pumpkin” for parents, family members, and fellow students recently.

10th Grade Students Tour Oswego County BOCES’ Career and Technical Education Center

November 30, 2011 Submitted article

Tenth grade students from schools across the county recently visited Oswego County BOCES to tour the Burton Ramer Technical Career Center, meet the instructors and learn about the various Career and Technical Education programs offered. After a brief welcome and overview of the programs, the 10th graders were given an opportunity to visit two different classes for a more in depth look. They were also provided with a course catalog outlining all program offerings to take home and study so they could make an informed decision about which class would be best for them. In the above photo, OCB Floral Design and Greenhouse Technology Instructor Margaret Rice works with visiting 10th grader Angela Jackson from the Mexico Academy and Central School District in creating a small souvenir bouquet of her visit to the class. For more information about the Career and Technical Programs at Oswego County BOCES visit the website at www.OswegoBOCES.org or call Ronald Camp, Director of Career and Technical Education at 963-4313.Tenth grade students from schools across the county recently visited Oswego County BOCES to tour the Burton Ramer Technical Career Center, meet the instructors and learn about the various Career and Technical Education programs offered.
