Altmar Elementary School Honors Veterans

Altmar Elementary School (AES) hosted a Veteran’s Day ceremony recently, honoring the men and women who served in our country’s armed forces and recognizing local military veterans with ties to the school. Three of the special veteran guests in attendance at the ceremony included Steve Hoffman, United States Navy 1972-1974; David Castor, United States Army 1997-2011; and Lucas Koch, United States Army 2005-2009. Pictured left to right above are: AES 2nd grader Aidan Schmeling with his grandfather Steve Hoffman; AES kindergartener Jayden Castor, 3rd grader Jordan Castor, 4th grader Katelin Castor, and kindergartener Dontay Auringer with their dad/uncle David Castor; and 1st grader Madison Lashomb with her dad Lucas Koch.Altmar Elementary School (AES) hosted a Veteran’s Day ceremony, honoring the men and women who served in our country’s armed forces and giving special thanks for their efforts to win, protect and defend our country’s freedom.

Rotarians Learn About Funeral Service Business

Rotarian, Zachery Menter, discussed his new vocation with the members of the Fulton Rotary Club, at a recent meeting.  When Zach was in high school and college, he worked at the family business, Oswego County Ambulance Service, as an EMT.  Because Menter's Ambulance also has a funeral hearse division, Zach decided to obtain his license as a Mortician, as his father, Jim Menter, did many years ago.  Zach explained to the Rotarians all of the steps and education he had to obtain to become licensed in this field.  Zach is presently completing his internship for his Funeral Director license.Rotarian, Zachery Menter, discussed his new vocation with the members of the Fulton Rotary Club, at a recent meeting.

Getting a Closer Look

Phoenix, NY – Genevieve Kimball a UPK/Head Start preschooler in the Phoenix III classroom at Discovery Day Care is taking a closer look at a lady bug.  The children in the class are able to explore and see things up close using child friendly magnifying bug catchers.  Head Start is taking applications.  If you have any questions about the program or would like to sign your child up for Head Start please call Children Services at OCO at 598-4711.  OCO, Inc. is a private, non-profit agency that has been supporting communities throughout Oswego County since 1966.  As OCO celebrates its 45th anniversary it continues to improve the quality of life in Oswego County by touching the lives of over 30,000 people each year.  A member agency of the United Way of Greater Oswego County member agency, OCO provides more than 50 vital services throughout 80 separate locations.  For information visit the website at www.oco.org.
