Across the U.S. boating trade associations, police agencies, marina operators, and organizations such as the US Coast Guard, Power Squadrons, and New York Sea Grant are reminding people how to be safe as they enjoy boating on New York’s Great Lakes and other waters.
The Buccaneer Bulletin, Oswego High School’s newspaper, was named the top student newspaper in Central New York by the Syracuse Newspapers in High School Press Day ceremonies on Monday at the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.
Elementary students from the school, along with tutors in the Masters Literacy Program at Oswego State University, worked together on reading and writing activities during the spring semester.
Eagle Beverage Company and Michelob Ultra have partnered with the Tri-Oswego 2011 Triathlon as sponsors of the upcoming event planned for June 25th and 26th in Oswego, according to Tri-Oswego Race Director Ron Nelson.
On June 4 at Breitbeck Pavilion the Leighton Home and School Association will hold a community yard sale from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Anyone interested in donating items for the effort can call Beth Clark at 216-4992 for drop-off/pick-up information or rent their own table under the pavilion for $8.
Trinity Catholic School will be hosting Death in the Ivy Halls, an interactive murder mystery musical comedy dinner theater, on Friday, May 20, at the Oswego Elks Club. The fun begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the show starting at 7 p.m.
In the upcoming weeks, the Oswego Police Department will be participating in the state-wide campaign to aggressively enforce the seatbelt laws in an effort to gain compliance.
