SUNY Oswego Laker Ice Hockey Teams Welcome United Way

As part of United Way Night, representatives from the SUNY Oswego Athletic Department invited representatives from the United Way of Greater Oswego County to take part in the ceremonial puck drop prior to the SUNY Oswego Lakers Men’s Ice Hockey game Dec. 10. Dropping the puck from left are: resource development director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Lois Luber; United Way board president, Wendy Tetro and SUNY Oswego Athletic Director, Timothy Hale.

Hockey fans attending the SUNY Oswego Lakers women’s and men’s ice hockey games on Dec. 10 were asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items.

Shirts & Skirts Collect for Toys for Tots

The Shirts ‘n Skirts Square Dance Club, which meets on Friday evenings at the Fulton Municipal Building, collected Toys for Tots at a recent dance. Preschool Classroom Takes Learning Outside

Preschoolers in the Phoenix I Head Start Program at Discovery Day Care take learning outside.  The students were given material to weave outside with the playground fence.  The children are using their small motor skills to weave the material back and forth.  Head Start is taking applications.  If you have any questions about the program or would like to sign your child up for Head Start please call Children Services at OCO at 598-4711.  OCO Inc., is a private, non-sector agency that has been supporting communities throughout Oswego County since 1966.  OCO Inc., is a United Way of Greater Oswego County member agency. SUNY Oswego Class to Visit Haiti, Offer Mental Health Workshops

Rodney Jeannis, a Haitian-American junior at SUNY Oswego, plans to travel with seven other psychology students and three professors to Petit-Goave, Haiti, over winter break for the real-world culmination of a course in dealing with the cultural aspects of trauma.Eight SUNY Oswego students and three psychology professors plan to journey to Haiti next month — a trip that will overlap the Jan. 12 anniversary of a devastating earthquake — to work with community leaders in Petit-Goave on continuing issues of trauma.
