O’Mara Tourist Center Welcomes Visitors Of All Ages

<p>The O’Mara Tourist Center, Route 104 West in Oswego, is opening its doors to local children’s groups and organizations who would like to bring children to the center to experience what a one-room schoolhouse looked like in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.</p>

Well known for welcoming visitors to the city of Oswego, the O’Mara Tourist Center would like to open its doors to area youth who would like to experience some of the history that the center has to offer.

TOPS Members Step Up to International Recognition

Weight-loss experts say walking is great exercise for better health. More than 1,500 chapters of TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) took that seriously over the past year, “walking” a cumulative total of 10,247,056 miles in the name of good health.

Skogfeldt Receives Izzo Writing Award

<p>Fitzhugh Park sixth grader Kristina Skogfeldt receives the Rose Izzo Writing Award from Principal Donna Simmons; Rose Izzo’s great-granddaughter, Samantha Rose Falcetti (a student at FPS); and Yolanda Izzo-Breitbeck.</p>

Once again the Rose Izzo Writing Award was presented to a departing Fitzhugh Park Elementary School sixth grader. The award, introduced several years ago by the Izzo family is presented to one outstanding writer among the FPS sixth graders. This year, Kristina Skogfeldt was the recipient.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego Maritime Foundation invite the community to join us for a fun filled day on Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and to help celebrate the New York State Barge Canal System.

In response to demand from business and industry in Central New York, SUNY Oswego has added a professional track to its master’s degree program in chemistry, incorporating courses in business.
