ARC Honors Memory of John Readling

</p>Local author, Dr. Harold Nash (r) and Mary Readling present Executive Director of ARC of Oswego County, Paul Kurtzman (l) with a signed a copy of Nash's latest book, "Three Good Men".  In the book Nash recalls his friend and colleague Professor John J. Readling whose efforts were a driving force behind the success and growth of ARC of Oswego County.  ARC will present signed copies of the book annually to the winner of the agency's Dr. John J. Readling Award.

When Executive Director of ARC of Oswego County, Paul Kurtzman read local author Dr. Harold Nash’s latest book, Three Good Men, it reaffirmed the significance of ARC’s Dr. John J. Readling Award and how important it is to ensure that the revolutionary efforts of Dr. John Readling would be remembered and recognized for years to come.

SUNY Oswego Admissions Show Increasingly Competitive Campus

The number of applicants, new undergraduates, students living on campus and newcomers’ academic credentials are all on the upswing, said Joe Grant, Oswego’s vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. Preliminary figures show 1,461 new freshmen and 711 transfers enrolled this fall.

Success By 6 Addresses Retired Teachers

</p>Rose Ann Myers (r), senior vice-president of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association presents Bonnie Holmes (l), director of the United Way's Success By 6 Program with a check in the amount of $500 in support of the agency's efforts to help Oswego County children prepare to begin school.

Members of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association enjoyed an enlightening presentation on the Success By 6 program during their recent fall meeting held at the American Foundry in Oswego.  Director of the Success By 6 program, Bonnie Holmes, who is also a member of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association, addressed those in attendance and spoke of the initiatives that Success By 6 works on throughout the year including the Summer pre-K Program, Stuff-A-Bus, and the popular Battle of the Books competition.

Goldberg’s Building Reborn As ‘129 Cayuga’ Condos, Public Open House Oct. 18 & 19

</p>After nearly two years of renovations and a  $2 million investment, the former Goldberg's Furniture building has been reborn as 129 Cayuga Condominiums, Inc., it was announced by Douglas Caster, property developer. The basement has been converted to a 12-space parking area, the main floor holds three commercial/retail spaces ranging from 4,000 to 1,600 sq. ft., and the top floor has eight condominiums. There will be an open house preview for licensed real estate brokers and sales agents only on Friday, Oct. 17 and an open house for the general public from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 18 and Sun. Revisions to Solid Waste Law Will Stabilize Fees and Help with Recycling Efforts

Proposed changes to Oswego County’s Recycling and Solid Waste Law will ease the burden on the property owners and help increase the amount of materials that are recycled in Oswego County, Legislator Fred Beardsley, District 9, Central Square, chairman of the Legislature’s Infrastructure and Facilities Committee, said today.
