Harry Houdini, the world famous magician, claimed Appleton, Wisconsin as his home even though he was born in Budapest. So it is only right that Appleton’s Museum at the Castle, has a major Houdini exhibit. When the museum opened its current Houdini gallery it caused a flurry among magicians when it was revealed that the exhibit would show how Houdini performed his famous metamorphosis illusion.

I love river trips and our eight-day cruise on the Mekong Explorer was wonderful. The Mekong Explorer is a beautiful teak and mahogany cruise boat that has a capacity of 34 but there were only about 20 on board making the crew to guest ratio about one-to-one. After my eight-day cruise on the Mekong Explorer I know the Mekong River between Nong Khai and Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand is serene with incredible sites to see along the way.

CNY Arts Center announces the cast of its next production, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” set to open June 6 for a two-weekend run at the center, 357 State St. The musical favorite is being directed and choreographed by Amy Price (Willy Wonka, Jr., Adventures of Tom Sawyer).
I like it when countries offer visas on arrival. Such is the case with Laos. It is quick and easy – just fill out the form, submit a passport-style image, passport, and pay $35 in cash. We checked into the Best Western which was a good choice and reasonable with two of our requirements: complimentary breakfast and internet. The hotel is located in the heart of old Vientiane near the Mekong River.
SUNY Oswego’s adaptation of the classic musical spoof “Young Frankenstein” brings new faces to the stage and highlights the comedic talent of the student cast, starting with a preview at 7:30 p.m. April 24, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre. The college music and theatre departments will present the musical comedy at 7:30 p.m. April 25; April 26; and May 3. The show will close with a 2 p.m. matinee May 4.
On a recent visit to Massachusetts, John and I planned to stay in Boston but there was a large convention going on so all the reasonable hotels were booked. We ended up staying at the Sonesta Suites in nearby Burlington, Mass. Several years ago we enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta Hotels in Peru. Sonesta Suites turned out to be a great choice. It was near Lexington and Concord, both places we wanted to visit. One of the most momentous moments in American history happened on April 19, 1775 in Lexington, Massachusetts.
