Oneida Community Mansion HouseRecently, I toured the Oneida Community Mansion House and learned about this amazing chapter in New York State history. The large rambling brick mansion was built in stages starting in 1861. The community was founded by John Humphrey Noyes in 1848 in an attempt to create the perfect society. At its height it had about 300 members that lived together as one family.
