I was talking to my neighbor (who to be honest is sort of an animal nut, if you know what I mean) and she mentioned that she fosters dogs for the Humane Society and then she tried to talk me into fostering too.  I love dogs too, but I can hardly imagine taking one in for several weeks or even longer and then letting it go to another home.

My new adopted pal, Bubba, a black lab mix, is about nine months old now and he is perfect in every way except one. He is an ingrate!  No, really.  I keep buying him toys and he keeps destroying them – all of them. It is so frustrating! I would really like to be able to play with him all the time, fetch, or tug of war, or whatever.

It is astounding to us how many people don’t understand that you can’t leave a dog in a car in the summer, even on a not so blindingly hot day, for even a few minutes without a risk of seriously injuring or killing your dog. Numerous studies have shown that the temperature inside a parked car, even in the shade, even with the windows cracked, can easily rise 20 degrees or more in just ten minutes.

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Dealing With ‘Senior’ Dogs

My dog, who has been with me since he was a puppy, is now 13. I guess that makes him about 91 in human years. He has always been well behaved and totally friendly, but suddenly he has started to bark for no apparent reason and sometimes when I am petting him or brushing him he just wanders off as though he doesn’t enjoy that attention any more. It makes me really sad to think that he may have some sort of dementia

Porky & Buddy Pet Health – Helping Pets Avoid Poison Ivy

My dog, Tucker, loves to go for walks in the woods with me and we do that all the time. But here’s the problem. He also loves to roll around on the ground and much of the ground in my woods is covered by poison ivy. Is he in any danger of getting a rash from poison ivy? And, I was told that I could get it from touching his fur after he has rolled.
