Music lovers are in for a treat with the opportunity to hear the soldier musicians of the 10th Mountain Division Army Band, along with local Dixieland and community band music, from 3 to 6 p.m. on July 24 in Hannibal.
Fulton Democratic Committee chairman Jim Rice announced that the annual chicken BBQ is scheduled for July 17, at the Fulton Polish Home between the times of 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Once again, Fricken Chicken dinners, provided by Denny Young and Johnny Rebeor, will be served by committee members.
Awards were distributed to student athletes at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School and John C. Birdlebough High School recently, recognizing them for high academic achievement. Students must be passing three subjects as well as physical education to participate in school sports.
Following the meal, the ceremony commenced in the school’s auditorium with a big welcome from both the Athletic Director Patrick Keefe and Superintendent Christopher Staats. They both expressed their pride in the feats accomplished by this year’s Hannibal Athletes.
The Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation was recently awarded nearly $150,000 from the New York State Learning Technology Grant Program to facilitate flipped learning instruction in secondary math classrooms.
“Enhancing recreational opportunities is a big part of the puzzle when it comes to improving our local communities for families in our region,” said Senator Ritchie. “I am pleased to have been able to secure this funding and look forward to checking out the improvements being made at Bridge Side Park.”
The Dave Melton Family Singers of Franklin, Indiana, will visit the Williamstown Church of Christ in Williamstown on July 20 for a 7 p.m. concert. The group sings a mix of hymns, Southern and contemporary gospel, and original songs.
On July 4, Fulton resident John McEachen competed in sparring at the 2016 USA-Taekwondo National Championships. Fighting in the ultra division (40-49) lightweight category (-68kg), McEachen lost his semi-final match to a very seasoned international competitor and was awarded a bronze medal.
