United Way of Greater Oswego County Resource Development Director Ali McGrath announced that United Way will host its annual Salute to Volunteers and Leadership Giving reception March 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The American Foundry in Oswego.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on February 28, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable and bread. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
SUNY Oswego has moved to enhance the experience of hearing-impaired spectators at ceremonies, performances and athletic events, installing audio-induction loops at several key locations. Upgraded locations include the concourse level of Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall, the newly updated Sheldon Hall ballroom, the soon-to-reopen Waterman Theatre and eventually in other venues on campus.
Ryan Martin, a resident of Oswego was among the 781 Walsh University students who earned Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2015 semester.
Members of the Crown 30+ Skate League, in partnership with the Oswego YMCA, have launched a pilot program for youth under the age of 12. Two local fathers and volunteers for the Oswego YMCA, Eric Bresee and Bob Ruggio started by bringing their own sons down to the park to skate and then inviting their friends. Interest escalated quickly, growing to 15 youth participants between the ages of 6 and 11 by the tenth week.
Digital Media students from the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation’s Career and Technology Education program recently designed a new logo for the Weston T. Hyde Oswego County Educational Foundation of Oswego, NY.
The shop, a small café and gift shop operated by the district in cooperation with Camden Central, Sandy Creek Central and Altmar-Parish-Williamstown school districts, offers a life-skills job-training program for special education students.
Pulaski High School senior Noah Smith was recently presented with the Roger Neilson Award at the PACS Varsity Football banquet.
