The Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training will gather for an evening networking social on June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Black Creek Cafe, 3276 Main Street (Route 104). The evening will include a short introduction to WNET, individual introductions by each attendee and open networking.
Enjoy an evening of fun-filled, toe-tapping music on June 26, with the Sounds of Brass at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Gazebo along the river on South First Street. From the Adams Family to the Pink Panther and from Mission Impossible to the Muppets, you will be treated to music from TV, the movies and Broadway.
The Sandy Creek Central School choral department dazzled the audience at their spring concert with performances by the middle school chorus, show choir and mixed chorus.
Principal Gregory Molloy congratulated the students on their tremendous efforts and expressed his pride in the district in regards to the senior prank that occurred that morning; seniors surprised the teachers in the school parking lot and charged them each $1 to park their vehicle. The money raised was donated to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse.
Fairley Elementary School hosted a successful grandparent’s luncheon where students got to enjoy their lunch period with some special loved ones.
Michael A Maroun Elementary School gave a proper surprise send-off to its retiring principal, Mary Stanton, at the last path to greatness character education ceremony of the year. Secretly, the students and staff coordinated an outdoor picture in which each grade level wore a different color of the rainbow. Each class was lined up to form the image of a rainbow for a rooftop photograph.
Sixty graduating seniors at G. Ray Bodley High School were recently congratulated for achieving high honor status throughout their four years of high school during a special ceremony. Students who achieved a four-year cumulative average of at least 89.5 percent qualified for high honor academic status.
Lanigan Elementary fifth graders dressed the part of historical figures like George Washington, Jane Goodall and Harriet Tubman for a real-life museum.
Pulaski Middle School students selected eighth grade social studies teacher Jordan Fahnestock as the 2015 Middle School Educator of the Year. While Fahnestock earned the most votes, every teacher in the middle school received at least one vote, according to Jill Truax, teacher and student government association adviser.
The agenda of the June 18 Living with the Ever-Changing Lake Ontario Dunes Public Information Workshop includes a lightning round of information stations at the Selkirk Shores State Park Pavilion. Visitors to the free event will have two minutes at various stations to learn about resources for Eastern Lake Ontario coastal property owners and community planners, healthy septic maintenance, Climate Smart Communities, watercraft inspection, invasive species, and more.
