Hundreds Turn Out for One-Time-Only Show

Nearly 500 people gathered on the parade grounds of the Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego to enjoy a performance of “The Great Rope,” the award-winning children’s play by the late Rosemary Nesbitt. The cast entertained and interacted with the audience in a reverse ‘theatre-in-the-round’ setting within this natural outdoor amphitheater. “This was a truly unique experience for the audience as well as everyone involved with the show,” said H. Lee White Marine Museum director Mercedes Niess, one of the show’s organizers.

Incoming fifth graders were greeted with a trail of colorful balloons that lead to the cafeteria for a short presentation given by teachers and staff to assist with the transition to middle school. Oswego County Opportunities Crisis and Development Services will hold a craft and vendor fair on September 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion in Oswego.
